Pacquiao won the Fighter of the Decade Award by a landslide in the voting by Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) in New York.
This is his very first Fighter of the Decade Award from the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA). He also got the Sugar Ray Robinson Fighter of the Year Award for the third time. Nominees for the Fighter of the Decade Award included Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Joe Calzaghe, and Marco Antonio Barrera.

The 7-division world champion and now a newly elected congressman of Saranggani province was really grateful to be awarded as Fighter of the Decade. Manny Pacquiao was with his wife, Jinkee, and his family during the awards that was held in Manhattan.

I overflow with joy and gratitude," said Pacquiao in his acceptance speech in New York on Friday. I am thankful that like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier and others I got into boxing.

I confronted poverty by trusting God and dreaming big. I was convinced I could succeed in boxing. The boxing ring could be the breeding ground for my dreams.

His trainer Freddie Roach was also honored and received his Eddie Futch Trainer of the Year trophy for the fourth time.

Pacquiao's most highly anticipated and a sure blockbuster fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still in negotiations.
