Johnny Delgado Dead at 61
Johnny Delgado died of cancer today, November 19, 2009.
In 2008, Delgado was diagnosed with lymphoma or cancer of the immune system in 2008.
He underwent eight cycles of chemotherapy.
He died with his wife, actress-filmmaker Laurice Guillen, daughters, his closest friends by his side at his home in Quezon City.
On Nov. 15, Delgado was taken to the St. Luke's Medical Center after he vomited blood.
Johnny Delgado (February 29, 1948 – November 19, 2009), was born on February 29, 1948, son of film director Ben Feleo and educator Victorina Marasigan. His real name is Juan Marasigan Feleo. He was an award-winning Filipino television and movie actor and writer.
He is best known for his television work on the TV gag show Goin Bananas in the 1980s, and for his roles in the films Kakaba-kaba ka ba? and Tanging Yaman.
He won the FAMAS Award and the Metro Manila Film Festival Award for Best Actor in 2000, for his role in Tanging Yaman.
His last project was “Labing Labing,”, co-starring his wife Guillen, they played a married couple in the film. His daughter Ina Feleo wrote and directed the film.
Labing-Labing is actually Ina's thesis film for the basic film course she took in Marilou Diaz-Abaya Film Institute.
Delgado's wake is at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine in New Manila, Quezon City. Interment will be at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina on Nov. 24.
