Doja Cat, the American rapper who gained fame as a teenager in 2012, recently released a new song titled "Balut". The song was dropped just a few days before the release of her fourth studio album, "Scarlet". The title "Balut" is intriguing and has sparked curiosity among fans due to its unusual name.

"Balut" is a term for a popular Filipino delicacy made from the embryo of a bird. However, Doja Cat's song isn't about the dish. Instead, she explained on Instagram that she named the song "Balut" because it signifies a bird being eaten alive, serving as a metaphor for Twitter stans and the death of Twitter toxicity. This explanation suggests that the song is a commentary on the harsh realities of social media culture.

The song "Balut" has been described as a laid-back outro track with a nostalgic '90s vibe. Its lyrics portray the life of a successful and empowered woman, often referred to as a boss lady. The song has received mixed reactions, particularly from Filipinos online due to its title. Despite this, fans have enthusiastically embraced the catchy tune and lyrics of "Balut", expressing their admiration for Doja Cat's musical prowess.

The song "Balut" is part of Doja Cat's upcoming album, "Scarlet", which is scheduled for release on September 22, 2023. The album features a total of 15 tracks, with no featured artists. This follows her successful 2021 album, "Planet Her", which spawned several Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hits.
