Billboard has announced the top 10 on the Hot 100 for the week ending September 5, with a chart that ranks the most popular songs in the United States across all genres based on streaming, radio play, and sales data.

“Dynamite” which is BTS's new English song has entered the charts at No.1. This is the highest ranking on the charts for a group that is made up of all Korean people.

According to Nielsen Music / MRC Data, "Dynamite" hit 33.9 million streams in the United States and 300,000 sales in its first week, ending August 27. The single received 11.6 million radio views in the week ended August 30.

Not only that, "Dynamite" reached 265,000 downloads sold in its first week. The single released by BTS for encouragement amidst difficult times due to the COVID-19 pandemic recorded a total first week sales of 300,000 including physical versions of vinyl and cassette.

Thus, "Dynamite" has a higher ranking than PSY's "Gangnam Style" which reached No.2 in 2012. Japanese-born Kyu Sakamoto is the first Asian artist to rank 1st on the charts with "Sukiyaki" for three weeks in 1963. Billboard noted that the Far * East Movement topped the Hot 100 for three weeks in 2010 with "Like a G6," and the group had two members of Korean descent at the time.

Previously, BTS's other song "ON" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in March at No. 4, achieving their highest ranking at that time and the highest score for a Korean group.

"Dynamite" also topped the Digital Song Sales chart this week and reached No. 3 on the Streaming Songs chart. Billboard will update its website with charts this week on September 1.

BTS also got a shoutout from the President of South Korea, President Moon Jae-In.

On Twitter, the South Korean Chief Executive congratulated the K-pop group for their achievement. "BTS has achieved its first No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, writing a new chapter in K-pop history as the first Korean band to do so," he began, taking note of BTS' previous achievements in Billboard.

"It is a splendid feat that further raises pride in K-pop. The song 'Dynamite,' which topped the list, is all the more meaningful as it has been composed to give a message of comfort and hope to people around the world who are struggling with COVID-19," he continued.

"It will bring huge consolation to Koreans suffering from the national crisis caused by COVID-19. I offer my heartfelt congratulations," he ended his note.

To make the success even sweeter, it’s already September 1. The first day of September is a special day in the BTS fandom because it marks Jungkook's birthday. This year, the youngest BTS member turns 23 (24 in Korean age). Today, Jungkook receives a gift... Dynamite No.1 in Billboard.

Meanwhile, BTS performed "Dynamite" for the first time at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on August 30 and swept all the awards nominated for them, resulting in a total of four trophies including Best Group, Best K-Pop, Best Choreography and Best Pop.

Congratulations on BTS's proud achievement!
