Emmy Awards 2020: "Schitt's Creek" and "Succession" the big winners of the day, Zendaya Youngest to Win Best Actress
A special edition of the Emmy Awards was held this year. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it had to be performed virtually, so a show was adapted so that nominated actors and the production will not contract the virus.
The television event that was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, was marked by different moments which filled social networks with comments.
One of them was the joke the comedian made about the correct way to "sanitize" the winners' envelopes to avoid getting infected.
Let us remember that the ceremony which awards the best American productions, opened its nominations this year to integrate those created by streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video or Apple where they presented series that were competing in the categories of best actor, best series and best comedy.
And it is that unlike other awards, the Emmys are delivered by the Academy of Arts and Sciences of Television, the National Academy of Arts and Sciences of Television and the International Academy of Arts and Sciences of Television.
Big winners of the night
In the first hour of the awards ceremony, the awards were given to the comedy series, which had "Schitt's Creek" as the big winner.
The production created by Daniel Levy won seven of the eight awards for which it was nominated, including the four statuettes dedicated to acting and the one for Best Comedy Series.
For its part, "Succession" did not disappoint and managed to be awarded in the categories of Best Drama Series, Best Actor for Jeremy Strong, Best Drama Screenplay and Best Drama Direction.
