The former NBA player and current commentator on TNT gave his position on the events that ended with the death of Breonna Taylor.

The United States is still shaken, after it was reported in the last week that the police who were in the shooting that ended with the death of Breonna Taylor would not be charged. The event touched the NBA very closely, to the point that they considered making a boycott of the Playoffs in protest mode.

Obviously, in these situations there may be different points of view, such as that made clear by Charles Barkley. The NBA Hall of Fame gave his position on TNT, where he works as an analyst, but it turned out to be highly questioned by the Twitter world in a matter of minutes. To make matters worse, the same will happen to him when the league players find out.

Barkley implied that Breonna Taylor's boyfriend shot and hit a police officer, which is why he expressly disagrees with the plan to defund the police and thinks that police reform needs to happen instead. As he spoke, his companions were undaunted.

“You know, we have to take into account that her boyfriend did shoot at the cops and shot a cop,” said Barkley.
The commentator understands that Taylor's case cannot be put on the same line as that of George Floyd, who passed away on May 25, 2020 when a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck, and Ahmaud Arbery, an unarmed 25-year-old African-American man, who was pursued and fatally shot while jogging near Brunswick in Glynn County, Georgia.

“So like I say, even though I’m really sorry she lost her life I don’t think we can put this in the same situation as George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, I just don’t believe that.”

“I hear these fools on TV talk about ‘defund the police,’ we need police reform and prison reform and things like that because you know who ain’t gonna defund the cops, white neighborhoods and rich neighborhoods,” Barkley said. He went on to add,”So that notion that they keep saying that,  I’m like wait a minute who are Black people supposed to call? Ghostbusters? We need police reform.”
Hall of Famer, and co-host, Shaquille O’Neal, agreed with Barkley, now both are facing criticism on social media.

“I have to agree with Charles, this one is sort of lumped in,” Shaq said. “You have to get a warrant signed and some states do allow no-knock warrants. And everyone was asking for murder charges. When you talk about murder, you have to show intent. A homicide occurred and we’re sorry a homicide occurred. When you have a warrant signed by the judge, you are doing your job, and I would imagine that you would fire back.”
The NBA has constantly spoken out about the deaths, calling in every way possible for police brutality to end in the United States, so that equality prevails above all else. Surely, there will be answers to what was expressed by Charles Barkley.
