And after statements by the French president that were deemed offensive to Islam in connection with the killing of the professor of history and geography, Samuel Patti, boycott campaigns of French products began in many countries of the Middle East, and many pictures were published of empty shelves carrying these products.

Patti was killed upon leaving the school where he was teaching in the Parisian region, when a Russian extremist Chechen youth beheaded for showing his students caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad during a lesson on freedom of expression.

On Sunday, Paris urged Middle Eastern countries to prevent retail companies from boycotting their products.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an end to the campaigns to boycott French products.

In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the past few days have witnessed calls in many countries of the Middle East to boycott French products, especially food products, as well as calls to demonstrate against France over the publication of cartoons insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.

"These calls for a boycott are baseless and must stop immediately, as well as all attacks against our country that are being pushed by an extremist minority," the statement said.
