Totoro Appears in Aomori Prefecture

On the coast of Rokkasho Village in Aomori Prefecture, there is a rock hole that looks exactly like Totoro, the mysterious creature that appears in Studio Ghibli's "My Neighbor Totoro." It was a place that had been known locally for a long time, but since last year it has been talked about on the net that "the outline is similar to Totoro". The village will be used on the cover photo of the July issue of the public relations magazine to appeal as a new tourist attraction.

The Village Tourism Association plans to install information boards and post them on the village tourism map. Shinya Kato (48), the secretary general, said, "I want to get to know other famous places in the village such as strange rocks and waterfalls."

House Approves Marcos Day (September 11) in Ilocos Norte

President Ferdinand Marcos The House of Representatives has approved in the third and final reading the law declaring September 11 as a special non-working holiday in the province of Ilocos Norte in commemoration of the birthday of former President Ferdinand Marcos.
