Trump himself tweets: "The First Lady and I tested positive for Covid-19. Let's start the quarantine and the healing process right away. TOGETHER we will do it!"

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner according to CNN reports - are instead negative for the coronavirus.

Barron Trump, the 14-year-old son of Melania and Donald Trump, also tested negative for the coronavirus. Stephanie Grisham, chief of staff of the first lady, told CNN.

Hope Hicks, one of Trump's advisors, tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. On Tuesday and Wednesday he had flown alongside the president, first accompanying him to Cleveland where the first televised debate of the November presidential election campaign was held. Then in Duluth, Minnesota, where Trump held an outdoor rally.

The president will remain in the White House during the quarantine but "will continue to perform his duties," announced his doctor. A trip to Florida, scheduled for Friday, has already been canceled.

Hope Hicks, 31, was aboard Air Force One with the President of the United States when he traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, three days ago to participate in the debate against Joe Biden.

She also traveled with him on Wednesday when he visited Minnesota for an election rally.

US reporters noted that many of the president's staff apparently refused to wear a face mask in the room while attending the first presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio.

"As too many Americans have done this year, the President of the United States and I are also quarantined at home after testing positive for Covid-19. We feel good and I have postponed all the commitments. to stay safe and we will get out of it together ": US First Lady Melania Trump tweeted on her account.

ABC: "Hope Hicks is sick"

Donald Trump's collaborator and adviser Hope Hicks "not only tested positive for coronavirus, but we were also told that she has symptoms. She is ill": the correspondent from the White House of the US broadcaster ABC writes.

The positivity of Hicks to Covid-19 is the immediate reason why President Trump and First lady Melania performed their respective tests, which in turn were positive, as communicated a little while ago by the US president himself with a tweet.

Hicks tested positive yesterday, but only on Tuesday she had traveled with Trump and Melania and other family members of the president to Cleveland for the TV debate with Joe Biden and then Wednesday in Minnesota for the electoral rally: all trips made together on the Air Force One or on the Marine helicopter, where there it is space for social distancing.

After Hicks was diagnosed positive, Trump continued to travel, going to New Jersey on a donor appointment yesterday.

While Hicks was swabbing yesterday, Trump was giving the Fox interview. "You know I've spent a lot of time with Hope (Hicks), and the first lady knows it too," said Trump immediately after following his test in the evening and before knowing the outcome.

Now the problem also affects many other collaborators and family members of the president who have traveled with him or have been in close contact with him these days.

"The strength of the whole country is with President Donald Trump and the first lady. America is united. Our country remains strong. Your president will continue to put people first." White House spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany tweeted it.

Negative vice president Mike Pence He was immediately subjected to buffer the number two in the administration, Mike Pence. "The vice president tested negative," said White House staff.

CNN: White House knew about Hicks yesterday but Trump went to New Jersey to raise funds

The White House knew that Hope Hicks was positive on the test but Donald Trump went to New Jersey yesterday for a fundraiser. This was revealed by CNN, which stresses that yesterday the White House spokesperson, Kayleigh McEnany, carried out one of her rare press briefings, without wearing a mask and without saying anything about the diagnosis of Trump's adviser.

CNN: also put a buffer in Biden Former US vice president presidential candidate Joe Biden must "swab immediately" because "he was close to someone affected by Covid", namely Donald Trump during their first debate last Tuesday, says the desk manager. Cnn health, Sanjay Gupta. "It can be contagious, or even more contagious before developing the first symptoms of Covid," he recalled. Even though Trump and Biden shared the stage, they were on opposite sides. Biden may have been far enough away from Trump to avoid contagion, "but in an enclosed space, the virus spreads like smoke. And it's not clear whether the two interacted before or after the debate, with the cameras off."

Greetings for a speedy recovery from all over the world

The chorus of "speedy recovery" came from several world leaders, including British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, European Council President Charles Michel, WHO head and Kremlin spokesman.

The comment of Gabriel Attial, a spokesman for the French government, struggling with a worrying surge in cases: the contagion of Donald Trump "shows that the virus spares no one, including those who have expressed skepticism".

Together with BoJo and the Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro - both ill and recovered from Covid - the head of the White House was among the political leaders who took a more 'relaxed' attitude regarding the health risks posed by the coronavirus and was extensively criticized for his speeches and meetings without a mask.

At 74 years of age and with obesity problems, Trump is among the categories at risk, so much so that CNN stresses that the diagnosis of Covid-19 represents "the most serious threat, in decades now, to the health of a US president in office ".
