French pilot, Vince Reffett, died on Tuesday, while training, in Dubai. The athlete had performed jumping and flying show operations, over the years, using jet bags and wings made of carbon fiber.
Reffet, 36, is a member of a team that has staged a series of air shows in Dubai, including flying over the Burj Khalifa, in addition to flying next to the Airbus A380, which is the largest civilian airliner in Emirates Airlines.
"It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce the death of the Vince Reffett, who died this morning, November 17th, during a training session in Dubai," said a spokesman for the "Jetman Dubai" team.
He continued, "Vince was a talented athlete and a loved and respected member of our team ... Our prayers are with his family and all those who knew and worked with him."
The relevant authorities in Dubai opened an investigation into the incident.
Videos of Reffet have spread this year, as he takes off from the ground to an altitude of 1,800 meters above the waterfront of Dubai, prompting many to liken him to the character "Iron Man".
