Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco): Signals raised, Classes Suspended as Ulysses approaches

The Philippine Meteorological Administration (PAGASA) said that Typhoon Ulysses is is moving at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour in the westward direction.  It has wind speeds of 125 kilometers per hour and gusts of 155 kilometers per hour.  The typhoon was last seen 100 kilometers north of Virac, Catanduanes or 350 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon at 10:00 am.

Pagasa said the typhoon will move westward and is expected to pass through the northern part of the Catanduanes ocean this morning until afternoon, and in the northern part of Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte in the afternoon or evening.

The eye of the typhoon is likely to landfall in parts of the Polillo Islands and mainland of Quezon tonight or tomorrow morning.

After the landfall, the typhoon will hit the mainland of Luzon and the western part of the seaboards of Central Luzon tonight or tomorrow morning.

It is possible that the  typhoon weaken slightly as it traversed the mainland of Luzon due to the Sierra Madre and Zambales Mountain Ranges but will remain in the typhoon category.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) had earlier said that local governments could still suspend classes even though education is currently online and there is a lot of work-from-home.
