Malacanang claims President Rodrigo Duterte decided on being vaccinated privately against coronavirus disease (COVID-19)  for an interesting reason - even though some sectors say it should be shown to the public.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, vaccination cannot be done and shown to the public because the President wants to inject the vaccine into his buttocks.

"I think so. He has said so. Sabi nga nya dahil sa puwet sya magpapasaksak, hindi pwedeng public."
(He said that, because he will get the shot in his butt, so it cannot be public),

Roque said in his press briefing about P-Duterte's decision.

This comes amid calls for Duterte to get vaccinated publicly to boost vaccine trust.  It may be recalled that Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III said in a recent Senate inquiry that he would try to convince President Duterte to get vaccinated in public to boost Filipinos' confidence in the vaccine.

Covid-19 vaccination programs worldwide inject vaccines in the arms of the recepient not the buttocks.

Roque also mentioned that P-Duterte will emulate what Queen Elizabeth II of Britain did when her vaccination was announced only after she and her husband Prince Philip received the first shots.

US President Joe Biden, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are just a few of the leaders in the world who have been vaccinated in public.
