65 year old Filipino woman attacked in New York city, security guards shut door as they watch the Asian hate victim

Incidents of attacks on Asians in the United States continue to occur.

On March 29, a hate crime incident occurred in New York City. A 65-year-old Asian woman (Filipino) was suddenly kicked and beaten on the street, and the attacker shouted "You don't belong here."

What is even more annoying is that not only did the security guard of the building beside them failed to help, they also closed the entrance and exit doors of the building from inside.

According to information released by the New York City Police, the case occurred at around 11:40, in front of a building at 360 West 43rd Street in Manhattan.

The victim, a 65-year-old Filipino immigrant, was identified as Vilma Kari. According to reports, the incident happened while she was walking to church.

It can be seen from the surveillance video that the suspect came across from her.  The man kicked her abdomen with his feet in broad daylight. After she fell to the ground, he kicked her on the head several times and sweared at her, and finally threw a sentence: "You don't belong here," and then left.

Three men in the lobby of a luxurious building witnessed all this, but no one offered a helping hand. When the victim struggled to get up from the ground, one of the witnesses who was a security guard in the building even closed the door of the building.

The victim suffered multiple injuries and needed to be hospitalized. Her face was swollen, her left leg was painful, and her pelvis was broken. Fortunately, she is now in stable condition and she has been discharged from the hospital.

After the incident, the suspect fled the scene and is still at large. The police appealed to anyone familiar with the matter to provide clues as soon as possible.

The management company of the building where the two security guards are located issued a statement saying that it had learned of the attack on Asian women in front of the building.

The company said they condemned any form of discrimination, racism, xenophobia and targeting the Asian community.

The statement also stated that the security guards who witnessed the incident have been temporarily suspended.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called Monday’s attack “absolutely disgusting and outrageous” and urged New Yorkers to intervene when they see assaults.
