MyHeritage App brings old photos to life with its new tool Deep Nostalgia

An App that animates photos becomes a hit on social media. Netizens were thrilled to see their beloved ancestors’ faces come to life. And this is all because of genealogy website MyHeritage's new tool, called DeepNostalgia. It makes photos blink, move, and smile.

You can upload a photograph of your great-grandparents and imagine what they were like. It's as if it were a video.

Surreal or creepy?  That's for you to decide.  These life-like black and White  images or should we say animated videos have created a stir on social media.

The site has licensed the technology from an Israeli company D-ID that does video re-enactment using "deep learning." 

Based on AI (Artificial Intelligence) that animates the faces in photographs, the tool helps create short videos.  

The MyHeritage app also has a photo enhancer to increase the resolution and sharpen the faces of small and blurry images.

Social media users have been sharing reanimated videos, on the photographs of their ancestors and the results were impressive.

House Approves Marcos Day (September 11) in Ilocos Norte

President Ferdinand Marcos The House of Representatives has approved in the third and final reading the law declaring September 11 as a special non-working holiday in the province of Ilocos Norte in commemoration of the birthday of former President Ferdinand Marcos. According to the report, House Bill 7137 was approved by a vote of 197 on Yes, 9 No and an abstention which set the said date as “President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos Day” in Ilocos Norte.  Ilocos Norte Representatives Angelo Marcos Barba and Ria Fariñas, and Probinsyano Ako party-list Representative Rudys Caesar Fariñas authored the measure. “For the people of Ilocos Norte, the young and promising Marcos has brought pride to the province and served as inspiration for young leaders to exemplify his leadership and governance administration,” said the Fariñas siblings.
