In Solenn's now-deleted promo, you can see her posing with her art work and it is setup in what seems like a poor community.
She said her work shows her love, appreciation, and hope for the Philippines and for the Filipinos.
But for other netizens she is being "insensitive" screaming of "privilege," and accused Solenn of engaging in "poverty porn."
At first, Solenn defended her photo and she replied to critics who commented on her post.
Solenn's defense was "people are quick to judge." She said she will only share her story when people have seen the entirety of her exhibit.
Netizens debated about her promo and whether it turned out to be ‘poverty porn’.
Some say, "Art is personal," but others say "Art is political."
Today, Solenn has become more sensitive in describing her promotions and paintings. Criticism from netizens has been a learning experience, according to Solenn.
"Thank you for letting this be an eye-opener for me as well," she said on Instagram.
