Hero dog Kabang passes away: Kabang gone, but her memories will leave on

Hero dog Kabang has passed away.
According to his guardian, Dr. Anton Lim, Kabang died in her sleep around 7 p.m. on Monday, May 17 at their residence in Barangay Pasonanca, Zamboanga City.

Lim said Kabang was still playing at 4 pm and when it was time to feed her at 7 pm she did not wake up.

Kabang is 13 years old or the equivalent of 91 in human age.  She may have died of old age.

Dr. Anton Lim announced Kabang's death on his Facebook account.

"I found her lying motionless near her bed tonight. I last saw her very alive at 3 pm when I fed her and changed her water. When I went to her enclosed play area to feed her at 7 pm, she was dead, probably for 1-2 hours already. I knew she was out playing with the other dogs as always because of her usual soiled feet,"
he wrote.

Kabang, a street dog owned by Rudy Bunggal,  became famous in 2011 for saving Bunggal’s daughter and a cousin from being run over by a motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver and the children suffered only minor bruises from the accident.  Kabang, however, got caught in the front wheel of the motorcycle. The bones holding her upper snout were crushed. They pulled her off the wheel then Kabang ran off, but re-emerged at the family home about two weeks later.

Her heroic action prompted netizens across the globe to raise funds to help her recover and be treated in the United States.

Dr. Lim  has taken care of Kabang since her former owner, Rudy Bunggal, passed away in 2015.

To Hero dog Kabang, you leave paw prints on our hearts!
