Big news on Rihanna! The superstar singer and entrepreneur gaining a new title, billionaire. On Wednesday, Forbes announced that the 33-year-old singer has officially become the wealthiest female musician in the world! Fact, she's the second richest female entertainer behind Oprah Winfrey.
She isn't raking in cash with just her music either. According to Forbes, Riri's worth has climbed to an impressive $1.7 billion due in large part to her ventures in the world of beauty and fashion.
Besides being known for her number one hits and starring in big budget films like Ocean's 8, Rihanna is a fashion icon. In 2017, the powerhouse teamed up with French company LVMH, the fashion house behind Louis Vuitton and Dior, to launch her now wildly popular Fenty Beauty cosmetics line. A year later Rihanna spearheaded Savage X Fenty, a lingerie line aimed at body positivity and inclusivity.
Fenty Beauty which Forbes confirms Rihanna is a 50% owner of makes up $1.4 billion of the mogul's fortune which is impressive since she only just launched the brand in 2017. Its launch broke barriers in the beauty industry by prioritizing inclusion of darker skin tones whose needs have been routinely ignored by the beauty industry.
Fenty Beauty drew lots of praise because when it was launched there were something like more than 40 shades for all range of skin tones which was something that at the time no other real cosmetics lines had been that inclusive. By 2019 the line was expanded to include 50 foundation shades and 50 concealer colors.
In 2020 Rihanna expanded the business to skin care and now it's not just women she's targeting. She wanted to make sure her Fenty skin line not only worked for all skin tones and types but that it was also gender inclusive. So she called up friends like her boyfriend ASAP Rocky and Lil Nas X to star in the campaign shoot.
