The drama depicts how a society falls into a living hell after a series of inexplicable supernatural phenomena. In the drama, death angels announce death sentences on people and social unrest arises as monstrous creatures appear to carry out the executions.
It is six episodes long and story wise with of course zero spoilers, it is basically if you have done something really bad in the past like if you have murdered someone or you have done something awful you get a message from a demon saying for example you're gonna die in five days and you're coming to hell.
According to calculation based on Netflix's weekly lists of top titles, it was a streamer's number 5 show of the month and was watched for at least 111 million hours globally.
The series has a perfect critical score as well on the review aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes, a rare feat for any tv series in this day and age.
'Hellbound' is directed by Yeon Sang-ho, a comic artist and the director behind the hit film 'Train to Busan' in 2016.
It is based on a webtoon titled 'Hell' written and drawn by Yeon and which also has received widespread acclaim since its release in 2019.
Yoo Ah-in stars as cult leader Jung Jin-soo, while Kim Hyun-joo plays lawyer Min Hye-jin, who goes up against the emerging pseudo-religion.
The show comes on the hills of the Korean series 'Squid Game' which was Netflix biggest show of all time and is still attracting viewers more than two months after its release.
