BTS announce New Anthology Album 'Proof' and new single ‘Yet To Come'
BTS |
BTS will release an Anthology album that summarizes their activities since their debut, including three new songs next month.
Big Hit Music, the agency, announced on May 5 through the fan community platform 'Weverse,
"We will release the anthology album 'Proof' which consists of a total of 3 CDs, on Friday, June 10 at 1pm."
It has been about 11 months since BTS released a physical album. The last one was a CD-type album containing 'Butter' and 'Permission to Dance' in July of last year.
In terms of non-single albums, it has been 1 year and 7 months since the special album 'BE' was released in November 2020.
BTS is celebrating their ninth anniversary in June and the boys are ready to begin a new chapter.
HYBE emphasized,
"BTS, who have been running nonstop since 2013, will celebrate their ninth anniversary in June. We thank 'ARMY' who have sent unchanging love and support."
HYBE also added "At this moment as BTS opens a new chapter as a 10-year-old artist. We decided to release an anthology album that connotes the history of BTS to reflect on their past activities and the meaning of it."
According to their agency, the anthology album will reportedly reflect the members' thoughts and ideas about their past, present, and future.
The group will unveil two teasers before the full music video's release.
The problem is that there are only three new songs, so the new album is not eligible to be nominated for a popular music award.
According to the Golden Disc Awards, in order to be considered for the record category, at least six new songs must be recorded. Also an intro, outro, a performance track, or a remix version of a song are excluded.
While public opinion about BTS' exemption from military service is not getting better, Jin, the oldest member, could possibly enlist this year.
Some fans are saying that the new album is unfortunate in many ways in a situation where it may be the last chance for the seven members to work together for a long time.
Again, fans showed various reactions such as, "It's underwhelming if they release a patchwork album and enlist, I waited a long time but it's a hollow rice cracker."
On the other hand, excited fans expressed their anticipation of a follow-up event saying, "I can understand that the members also need a break before enlistment and I think there will be another surprise event."
Meanwhile, Psy, best known for Gangnam Style, said BTS member Suga inspired him to return to music and release a new album. The pair even collaborated on the single 'That That.'
