YuYu Hakusho Live-Action Series on Netflix: Images reveal Takumi Kitamura as Yusuke Urameshi

Netflix series "YuYu Hakusho," which will be exclusively distributed from December 2023, revealed a new poster showing Takumi Kitamura (Let Me Eat Your Pancreas, Tokyo Revengers) as the main character, Yusuke Urameshi.


Netflix's poster showed the green school uniform unique to Yusuke, and his regent hair which is irresistible to fans of the original.

It is said that the Netflix adaptation will follow the original story from the the hit manga "YuYu Hakusho" (published by Jump Comics) serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) for four years from 1990.


In the manga, the main character, Yusuke Urameshi, a high school student, spends all his time in fights and is feared as a bad boy at school.  One day, Yusuke is killed in a car accident while trying to protect a child. However, since it was unexpected for the spirit world that "a bad Yusuke helps a child and dies," there was no place for him in either heaven or hell.  Yusuke is given a chance to be revived, and after passing his trial,  he becomes a spirit world detective who solves cases involving humans, demons, and spirits while also trying to unravel the mystery of his life.

The greatness of the original manga which is loved all over the world has unique characters that continue to grow with each serialization.  


Powerful battle scenes have also captured the hearts of readers and have become explosively popular regardless of gender. 


Yu Yu Hakusho has also been adapted as an anime in the past.  


Kitamura is the only member of the cast announced so far.
