Fifty Fifty legal battle: Members accused Attrakt of violating contract
Fifty Fifty |
The K-pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY is currently embroiled in a legal battle with their agency, Attrakt.
The dispute began when all four members of the group - Saena, Keena, Aran, and Sio - filed a lawsuit to suspend their exclusive contracts with the agency on June 19, 2023. The trial is currently underway at the Seoul Central District Court.
The members, represented by the South Korean law firm BARUN, have accused Attrakt of violating contract terms and destroying the trust-based relationship between them. They allege that the agency has failed to fulfill contractual obligations, including non-transparent financial settlements and enforcing scheduled activities despite the members' poor health conditions. Furthermore, they claim that Attrakt disclosed details about member Aran's surgery without her consent.
In response to these allegations, Attrakt has accused an external third party, identified as Warner Music Korea, of attempting to poach the group members. However, Warner Music Korea has denied these claims, labeling them as "groundless."
Adding another layer to the controversy, Attrakt has also filed a criminal complaint against its former co-CEO Ahn Sung-Il. The agency alleges that Ahn's company, The Givers, deleted company data and took ownership of the copyright for FIFTY FIFTY's hit single 'Cupid' without their knowledge.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, the members of FIFTY FIFTY have expressed their desire to return to their fans as soon as possible. They have emphasized that their decision to file the lawsuit was made independently, without any third-party intervention.
