NASA Holds First Public Meeting on UFO's

NASA PANEL: UFO FIRST PUBLIC MEETING

The Truth is out There?  NASA holds its first public briefing on UFO's.

In the group's first public meeting on Wednesday experts stress the need for more high quality observations to uncover the truth.

The space agency launched a study one year ago to look into the unexplained sightings of unidentified flying objects.

Today's panel featured 16 scientists and other experts looking at what unclassified information is out there.

The panel is addressing how and why it's investigating the incidents.  They said that the presence of UFO's raises concerns about the safety of  our skies.

NASA says it has received more than 800 reports of unidentified flying objects from around the world since 1996.

The panel says although some sightings of UFO's remain a mystery to science most have a rational and reasonable explanation.

But the panel did not completely rule out the possibility of extraterrestrials.  They said they haven't found life beyond Earth yet but they are looking.

US defense officials say recent efforts to investigate the unexplained have led to a massive influx in new UFO sightings.

The team is planning to release a report into their findings by the end of July.
